  • Previously Owned Homes are selling faster than new construction because there is more inventory.

Starting your house hunt is exciting!  Knowing what inventory is available will help craft an acceptable offer.  Take a look at the chart below.  Inventory is well below April 2012 levels.  A 6 month supply is considered a balanced market. The takeaway is: homes over $500,000 are plentiful and a good selection still exists.  Of course, it will depend on a specific area and neighborhood.  And the reason sales of $300,00 to $500,000 homes are strong is because there is still a 3.3 month supply, (although low) buyers are finding homes to buy.  This is what causes multiple offers on homes.  Timing plays a very big role too.
