Dallas Midtown – LBJ and Preston Road a $3 Billion + Project

Creating a one of a kind Dallas Midtown development

Dallas - DFW

Never thought about LBJ and Preston Road being noted as Dallas Midtown.

But when someone is planning to spend $3 Billion + like The Beck Group,

I guess you can name a development anything you like.

So here’s the bottom line on what’s being developed by The Beck Group at the site of the old Valley View Mall.

The initial phase of the development to be known as Dallas Midtown will start in early 2014. The 430-acre redevelopment will initially include a grocer, retail and apartments on the site and is expected to include 4 million square feet of office space including:

  • a 40-story office tower
  • 3 million square of retail and restaurant space
  • 4600 apartment homes
  • two hotels and one convention center
  • 600 condo homes above the hotels
  • a gondola connecting the project to the Dallas Galleria
  • a hike-and-bike trail connecting Dallas Midtown to White Rock Lake.

Other features to include a 20-acre park, which the developer says will compare to Central Park in NYC, a surfing water feature and a Bellagio-style water fountain. The overall project is expected to take more than 10 years to complete.

Well, if you’ve comprehended the overall picture of The Beck Groups development plan for Dallas Midtown you can see it’s going to be a small city within itself.  I’m sure USPS will assign the development its own zip code!

And folks that’s how you spend $3 Billion plus monies to create a one-of-a-kind development and turn a run-down out of date retail mall into a small city.
